Sunday 17th April 2011

Thursday April 14th 2011

On Sunday around 40,000 people will be taking part in this year’s Virgin London Marathon and local Police Community Support Officer, Lucy Collyer, will be running to raise money to help save lives. Lucy is hoping to raise over a £1000 to buy a defibrillator for the Stalham & Smallburgh Area First Responders. “As a PCSO on foot patrol I have seen how fast these volunteers respond in a medical emergency, so I wanted to help them” said Lucy. Although First Responders are called out by the ambulance service, they receive no funding and each responder needs equipment costing around £2500. This is the second time Lucy has run in support of First Responders, previously raising funds for the Wroxham group. Lucy - who lives near Coltishall -  is a member of the North Norfolk Beach Runners, based in Cromer and is aiming to beat her previous time of 4hr 9min. Lucy would like to thanks all the individuals, schools, businesses and charities who have sponsored her.
